Cambodia and Nepal Agree on Progress Based in Buddhism

PHNOM PENH: Leaders from Cambodia and Nepal expressed their shared visions of co-developing the two countries based in their Buddhist faith.

On the afternoon of May 2, 2023, the President of the National Assembly of Nepal, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, made a courtesy call to Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace to congratulate the PM on receiving the honorary title of "Patron" from the World Fellowship of Buddhists.

Timilsina recalled his visit to Cambodia six months ago during which he was very pleased to expand the scope of cooperation between the two countries in the areas of culture, tourism and investment and to revisit subjects on which the two countries have already signed an agreement. He emphasized the common ground shared between Cambodia and Nepal, especially in regards to Buddhist principles, which he believes will help the two countries rapidly develop.

The Prime Minster responded by thanking Timilsina for attending his ceremony to receive the title of "Patron" and for the congratulations. He said that he was honored to receive the highest distinction in Buddhism and was also very proud to have gone from a pagoda boy to being officially recognized as a practitioner of Buddhism.

The Prime Minister agreed to promote cooperation and relations between the two countries by implementing agreed-upon strategies to help their nations reach mutual goals.
